History

Our mission is brush making. The founder of the company, Zdeněk Vala senior, trained as a brushmaker under Master Scheiner in Kyjov and established his own trade in 1945. He worked first in Rašovice and then moved to Holíč, where he employed his first co-workers. In 1955 he moved to Uherské Hradiště. Unfortunately, the 1950s were not favourable to entrepreneurs, so his business was liquidated two years later. He was subsequently sentenced to five years' imprisonment. Shortly after his return from prison, he was approached by members of the National Committee in Holíč to take over the management of the local brush workshop.

And so, at the end of the 1960s, he took up the position of head of the brush shop of the Services of the Town of Holíč. Under his management, the workshop flourished. At the end of the seventies, it employed almost fifty people, among whom his son Zdenek was also beginning to make a name for himself. At the beginning of the 1980s, both of them took up the offer from the director of the Services of the Town of Uh. Hradiště to establish a brushing workshop in Uherské Hradiště. In very modest conditions and with a minimum of new employees, son Zdenek founded the workshop in 1983.

We renewed the privat business in 1990 and thanks to the subsequent privatization of the equipment of the brushing workshop of the Services of the Town of Uh. Hradiště we acquired two old brushing machines and basic materials for production. Since then, we have been investing in new production technologies, in our own building for production (1996) or in new storage facilities (2001 and 2014). In 2021, thanks to a generational change in the management of the company, we switched from a sole proprietorship to LLC Vala - výroba kartáčů, s. r. o.

At present, we focus mainly on the production of flat brushes. In addition, we also maintain the production of classic brooms and dust brushes, filled in not only with synthetic filaments but also with traditional horsehair tail. To a lesser extent, we also produce round and square ceilling brushes for painters. We also produce various types of road brushes, floor brushes or brooms.

We want to excel in product quality, not quantity.

1943

Zdeněk Vala in apprenticeship with Master Schneider

The beginnings of brush making in the family business could date back to the first half of the 1940s, when Zdeněk Vala senior, then fifteen years old, joined the apprenticeship of brush maker Šnajder in Kyjov, where he gained basic experience. At the turn of the forties and fifties he acquired a trade and moved to Holíč in Slovakia, where he started his own business.

1952

First employees

Within a relatively short time, it manages to establish itself, overcomes various obstacles (especially finding sufficient material for production was difficult in the post-war years), and with its first employees experiences a period of prosperity. However, the local communist party starts to resent this and in 1957 his business is nationalised.

1970

Zdeněk Vala junior in his working beginnings

After ten years, he is offered the opportunity to work in a brush workshop belonging to Komunal Services in Holíč, where as a manager he builds up a workshop whose products become widely known not only in Slovakia but also in Moravia and partly in Bohemia, especially in the sales centres of the then Karteko, Rempo and Drogerie companies. At its peak, the workshop employed forty people, including the son of Zdeněk Vala (the current owner of the company).

2014

New automatic line for the production of flat brushes

At the end of the seventies, the family moved to Uh.Hradiště and after a few years of commuting, they decided to leave Holíč and established a brushing workshop as one of the products of the company Services of the town of Uh.Hradiště. Here they managed to rebuild a working workshop, which within a few years replaced the Holíč plant on the market.

2015

New dispatch warehouse

In 1991 it was decided to privatise the plant. Already as a purely private company, it invests in modern machinery and focuses production on brushes and paintbrushes for craftsmen, sackcloth brooms and, as a supplement to production, a basic range of brushes. Over time the company's product range has grown and today it offers a wide range of products aimed at a diverse range of customers.
